Nickel Wire Mesh

Nickel wire mesh is a type of woven or perforated material made from pure nickel or nickel alloys. Nickel mesh is typically manufactured by weaving thin nickel wires into a mesh structure, although it can also be produced by perforating a sheet of nickel. The mesh size can vary, depending on the intended use, and it can be customized in terms of wire diameter, porosity, and other specific features.


Nickel mesh offers unique properties that make it indispensable in many industries. Its ability to withstand extreme conditions like high temperatures, corrosive environments, and mechanical stress ensures that it remains a preferred material for various applications, from energy production and filtration to aerospace and marine industries.

 


Chemical Composition


Nickel mesh primarily consists of nickel (Ni), usually with ‌over 98% purity‌. High-purity nickel (e.g., ≥99.5%) delivers excellent ‌corrosion resistance‌, ‌electrical conductivity‌, and ‌ductility‌. Some variants may contain trace amounts of iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), or molybdenum (Mo) to enhance specific properties (e.g., hardness or high-temperature resistance), with total impurities typically kept below 2%.


Weaving Methods


The manufacturing processes include ‌plain weave‌, ‌twill weave‌, and ‌Dutch twilled weave‌, with customizable aperture sizes (range: ‌10 to 500 mesh‌).

Key Properties of Nickel Mesh


Corrosion Resistance: Nickel mesh is resistant to corrosion, particularly in acidic and alkaline environments, making it ideal for use in chemical processing and marine applications.

High Temperature Resistance: Nickel can withstand high temperatures, making the mesh suitable for applications in furnaces, heat exchangers, and other high-heat environments. 

Electroconductivity: Nickel is an excellent conductor of electricity, so nickel mesh is used in electronic components and electrical applications.
